This course gives you everything you need to become effective in applying psychological principles and methods to the unique challenges facing contemporary work organisations. The programme gives you the core psychological science base while broadening your career options by the applying the organisational psychologist’s skill-set and enhancing commercial awareness.

Covering the full range of topics required for professional recognition by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health Professions Council, the programme incorporates knowledge from related subject areas of business and management studies to provide a more complete picture of the context in which organizational psychologists operate.

Our distinctive subject expertise – encompassing socio-technical system design, the psychology of strategic management, change management, and cognition in organizations – enables us to expose students to the latest developments in diverse areas of research and practice.

Teaching on the MSc is informed by research carried out by the Socio-Technical Centre (STC), which undertakes research at the cutting edge of Organizational Psychology. The STC has strong industry links with the likes of Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Land Rover, the National Health Service and John Lewis.

Business savvy, with a broad appreciation of the financial, strategic and operational workings of contemporary organizations, our graduates will be strongly positioned to enter careers in the public or private sectors, equally adept as dedicated consulting organizational psychologists or human resource specialists.

As a Masters student you will be able to access support from our Postgraduate Career Management Centre, which will help you develop key skills including networking and negotiating, and put you in touch with potential employers.

Qualification Requirements

  • You will need a BPS accredited psychology degree.
  • Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in psychology from an overseas institution maybe eligible if the degree is BPS accredited. It is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the BPS to check if their degree is accredited. The BPS Accreditation Team can be contacted by emailing pact@bps.org.uk
  • If you are not from the UK please visit equivalent qualifications to find out about entry requirements from non-UK countries.

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first language you need to attain one of the following:

  • TOEFL iBT: At least 94 overall with a minimum of 21 in Listening, 23 in Reading, 23 in Speaking and 24 in Writing.
  • IELTS test you need to achieve a score of 6 or more in each section and an overall score of 6.5.
