Rebecca Padgett

Profile

I joined the Business School (LUBS) in 2021 and am currently a Senior Teaching Fellow for Employability and Professional Development. I am also working closely with colleagues to develop initiatives to enrich and enhance curriculum in the marketing department.

I have been teaching at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level since 2010 across marketing, sports business and events management disciplines. Prior to joining LUBS I was Programme Director for all undergraduate sports business, marketing, tourism, events and hospitality programmes at York Business School.  I also had responsibility launching and implementing school-wide employability initiatives to enhance and enrich curriculum which were award winning before being rolled out across the whole university.  I am passionate about work readiness, employability and students making an impact upon graduation.

Prior to my experience in Higher Education I am proud of my proven and significant experience in all elements of sport business management and marketing leading and operating at board and ministerial level across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

I have developed and led education programmes, sporting events and businesses on a international, national and local level.

I have held a number of advisory and consultancy roles including training Lead Volunteers for 2021 FIFA World Cup and working with organisations such as the American Air Force, UK military services, Carnival Plc and Holidaybreak Plc.

Alongside my full time role in LUBS, I am pursuing my Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at York St John University. My research interests are around employability and work readiness, self-efficacy, curriculum enhancements, authentic assessments and non-linear careers.
