Study with us
The Economics Division is a vibrant department with a tradition for teaching economics that is current, innovative, realistic, policy relevant and pluralistic. Our Undergraduate, Masters and PhD programmes combine a core of technical skills with a range of research-informed specialisms.
We support students to become independent, critical thinkers prepared for employment and further study. Graduates apply their skills in finance, business and government and many also go on to study at Masters and PhD level.
Read the Division's Undergraduate Papers in Economics to discover the breadth and quality of work produced by Economics students.
Economics research at Leeds
The Economics Division represents a realistic and policy-relevant economics. We address real-world challenges through our research, and promote an understanding of a diverse range of perspectives.
The Division's research centre, the Applied Institute for Research in Economics (AIRE), supports and disseminates research in economics and political economy at the University of Leeds.
Economics works with other disciplines - business, social sciences and STEM - to solve complex, practical problems and leads several large, interdisciplinary research projects. Collectively, the Economics Division is responsible for grants worth over £16m.
