I conducted my PhD at Leeds University Business School / CERIC between 2014 and 2017. My PhD adopted an ethnographic approach to understanding how front line fire fighters learn and share knowledge within communities or practice. It also looked at unlearning and organisational memory with a particular focus on the process of unlearning. My research into the UK Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing. My second stream of research considers emotional labour within the UK financial services sector. This research looks at the connection between emotional labour and mental health and well-being. How emotions are shaped, controlled and monitored in organisations is something I am particularly interested in.
