Profile

Rose is currently working as a Research Fellow, conducting quantitative data analysis and research on the Paternal Involvement and its Effects on Children’s Education project (PIECE). The Principal Investigator of the project is Helen Norman and it is funded by the ESRC’s Secondary Data Analysis Initiative (SDAI) to explore whether and how fathers’ childcare involvement affects children’s educational attainment at primary school. This project uses Millennium Cohort Study and National Pupil Database data.

Before coming to the University of Leeds, Rose worked at the University of Nottingham as a Research Fellow on the Maths in Further Education Colleges project investigating young people's educational progress in Maths as they finished school and move into Further Education. The analysis used National Pupil Database and Individual Learner Record data.

Rose finished her PhD in Social Policy at the University of Lincoln in 2019 and previously studied at the University of Sheffield. Her PhD thesis focused on how housing tenure interacted with public attitudes to welfare. She undertook longitudinal, time series and comparative quantitative analysis of the UK and Europe using the British Social Attitudes survey, British Household Panel Survey, the European Social Survey and Eurostat data.
