Overview
As a future digital leader, this course provides you with the latest skills and capabilities to utilise digital technologies and manage information effectively in business.
Digital technologies are fundamentally transforming business models, products, services and ways of working. You will learn tools and techniques for managing technology mediated change and innovation in digital business. You will be equipped to successfully adapt and innovate to meet the challenges and opportunities posed by digital transformation.
You will benefit from strong links to business, as the course has been co-designed by academic experts and industry leaders from our Advisory Board.
Academic excellence
This Masters is supported by an Advisory Board, with representatives from leading UK and international businesses, including IBM, Ericsson, ITV, BT, Crisp Thinking and Thales Group. They advise on programme content, deliver guest lectures and workshops, provide dissertation projects and offer site visits. You will benefit from a curriculum developed in collaboration with these partners, which allows us to focus our teaching on the skills most relevant to the future digital workplace.
Teaching on the MSc is informed by leading scholars from the AIMTech Research Centre at Leeds University Business School, one of Europe’s most influential research centres in information systems and information management.
The centre has a tradition of cutting-edge research subjects, including organisational innovation and adaptation to new technologies, digital transformation, social media in organisations, digital platforms and new business models, and evaluation of new information systems.
Course content
Core modules explore approaches to digital transformation management and the strategic importance of developing new business models, products and services - particularly in relation to digital technologies. Part of this is also learning about innovation processes to acquire skills for generating innovative ideas and actualising them successfully to grow businesses.
Core modules will also develop your understanding of the concepts and perspectives of the design and implementation of information systems, and how to manage digital information projects through project management methodologies.
Additionally, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the importance of digital information management as a core business activity. This involves critical thinking in relation to privacy, security and ethics. You will also examine the ways in which businesses use information in analytics and decision science which will broaden your skills and competence.
Within the course, you are provided with the possibility to choose one optional module from a range of specialisms, such as data-driven consultancy, socio-technical systems thinking, operations and supply chain management and entrepreneurship.
By the end of the course, you will submit a dissertation on a topic of your choice to focus on a specific question in-depth. You may be able to choose a topic set by one of our industry partners, demonstrating your knowledge and skills in an area of clear interest to business.

On this course you’ll be taught by our expert academics, from lecturers through to professors. You may also be taught by industry professionals with years of experience, as well as trained postgraduate researchers, connecting you to some of the brightest minds on campus.
Assessment
Assessment methods emphasise not just knowledge, but essential skills development too.
You will be assessed using a range of techniques including written assignments and essays, exams, in-course assessment, group and individual presentations and reports.
Applying, fees and funding
Entry requirements
A bachelor’s degree with a 2:1 (hons) in business, management or any relevant subject e.g. computing, information systems, engineering, etc.
International qualifications
We accept a range of international equivalent qualifications.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any component. For other English qualifications, read English language equivalent qualifications.
Improve your English
International students who do not meet the English language requirements for this programme may be able to study our postgraduate pre-sessional English course, to help improve your English language level.
This pre-sessional course is designed with a progression route to your degree programme and you’ll learn academic English in the context of your subject area. We operate a staged admissions process for this course with selection deadlines throughout the year.
If you do not receive an offer in a particular round, you will either be notified that your application has been unsuccessful, or we will carry your application forward to be considered in the next round.
