Staff from the Marketing division attended a Leeds Alumni event on April 22nd. Held at the headquarters of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in Belgrave Square, the evening drew 70 graduates working in the communications and marketing industries from faculties across the university.

Proceedings kicked off with a lively expert panel discussion exploring the ups and downs of brands using social media as part of their communications strategy. The panel was chaired by Nicola Mendelsohn, Chairman and Partner of Karmarama and President of the IPA who did a fantastic job in managing an insightful and contemporary debate. She was joined on the panel by Nancy Cruickshank, Launch CEO of Weve; Ruby Quince, Digital Director of Freud Communications and Lindsay Nuttall, Head of Marketing, BBC1 and BBC Drama.

Following and interesting Q&A session, graduates, marketing academics and panel members enjoyed drinks and canapés as the discussion continued well into the evening. This also provided a great professional networking opportunity, reflecting the shared, mutual interest of guests.

The night was summed up by one graduate:

"When the invite came round the topic really grabbed me and I registered straight way. It’s been a fantastic evening. I really miss Leeds!"
