Professor Peter J Buckley OBE, Professor of International Business and Founding Director of the Centre of International Business at the University of Leeds (CIBUL), is being awarded the Richard Whipp Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Academy of Management “For considerable and sustained contribution to International Business” 2011.

Peter is currently Chair of the European International Business Academy (2009-2012 and Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor in the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing (UIBE).   He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s New Year Honours List 2012, "For services to higher education, international business and research".

The Richard Whipp Lifetime Achievement Award is made in memory of Professor Richard Whipp, an outstanding scholar in the field of business and management and former Chair of the British Academy of Management.

Following the presentation of the award, Professor Buckley will give a short address covering the contributions he has made during his career.  The talk will focus on several “dos and don’ts” in managing an academic career and will draw lessons for success in academic life.  This short talk will illuminate the pressures and pitfalls of 21st century university careers.
