Research
My current research interests and projects fall within three overlapping areas:
1. The interplay of employment relations and social policy:
Work-life balance over the life-course; inter-relationship of paid work and
non-work activities, learning skills and human capital; the future of work
and welfare systems.
2. Individuals' labour market transitions:
The interrelationships between culture, structures and agency in specific transitions
e.g. redundancy, retirement; processes of learning new identities.
3. Organisational cultures and strategies for equality and diversity:
Gender, ehtnicity and age in organisational culture; the role of legalisation
in relation to race/ethnicity, age, gender, family.
